Grocery Bag Dispenser - Take 2

Here is the bag made out of upholstery weight fabric. You can't tell from the picture, but this kind of fabric gives the dispenser a nice heft. It seems like it might stand up a little better over time.

Just what I've been needing - a grocery bag dispenser. Stuff the bags in the top, hang it up, and pull your plastic bags from the bottom as needed. No more searching for grocery bags! Whip up this quick project using Make It and Love It's tutorial. I changed it slightly by making it out of two fabrics. The top and bottom panel are 4.25 x 20 and the middle section is 17.5 x 20. This is my favorite kind of project - beautiful, useful, and quick! Use fabrics you love and this is going to make you happy everytime you look at it.

Here's a tip : since making this post, I've made this project again with upholstery weight fabric. It's even better!

Monogram Pillows

I just made two of these for a family member - totally easy, envelope style felt pillows. There is no pillow form in this cover yet, but you get the idea. The applique was simple too. I printed out a letter in the font I wanted (this pillow is 18 by 18, so the applique is pretty big. I had the letter enlarged at Kinkos) , traced the opposite side and then used that to trace onto fusible web. This gives you an image that is correct on the right side of the felt when you fused it to the back ground. Make sense? Once it's fused in place just machine straight stich around the edges with matching thread.

I used a cool product for this project - soft, lovely felt made from recycled, plastic water bottles. Neat!

Little Girl Birthday Gift

My guy is going to his first kids birthday party tomorrow. Here is the gift I made for the birthday girl. Well, really I just embellished the shirt to go with a belt I already made from my coveted Amy Butler fabrics. I "stole" the belt from my etsy shop, but that's okay. It's not easy to whip up a gift that fast, so I'll take the help!

Stacked Coins Baby Quilt

I finished my latest baby quilt. I blogged about the pattern and inpiration earlier. Since there is no recipient in mind, I think I'll put it in my etsy shop. It's hard to part with though, since I just love the fabrics in this one.

It was my first time piecing a strip on the back of the quilt. Pretty cute.

As you can see, I machine quilted it in lines of random widths, and I think it looks so good! This is the first time I didn't prewash all my fabrics, and it turned out great when I washed the finished product - all wrinkley. I think it would be a perfect baby quilt, but it would also be nice as a wall hanging. Check out the swell polkadot binding.

First Birthday Onesie

My little baby is going to turn one next month! I made this onesie for him to wear on the big day. Now big brother wants one with a three on it :). It will be easy enough to do. Just print out a number in the font of your choice and enlarge it as necessary on a copier. Trace the back of the image (the wrong side so the image will be mirrored) onto fusible web. Iron the fusible web onto the wrong side of your fabric, and cut out the number on the lines. Iron the number onto your shirt, then blanket stitch around the edges. Done!
