My little guy's quilt is done! Thanks for the comment that identified this pattern as Cobblestones. It is my first time machine quilting, and I just went for stitching in the ditch. I like how quickly it went! Next time I hope to try some free motion quilting.

Where did you find the car applique pattern? I know my e-friend on www.fatcatpatterns.com has one, but yours doesn't look like that one. Thanks for letting me know.
It's not a pattern. I liked the car outline on a gift bag I got at a baby shower. I just photocopied the car from the bag and blew it up a little. Then I used freezer paper to trace it and make the applique pattern. I used the same method, but with paint, to make the car paintings in the first picture.
So cute, and that pillow is just perfect with it!
That's beautiful! I have been searching for an easy quilt to make for a friends baby shower and you did it perfectly ( the same exact colors I was looking for also ). Please do tell me, did you follow a pattern, how can I do this? I am also very new to sewing. Thanks.
Thanks Jessica. I did not follow a pattern for this. I can give you a basic idea though. Cut the center square (color A) of each block 3 1/2 inches by 3 1/2 inches and two squares on another color (color B) the same size. Sew the color B aquares on either side of the color A square. Now cut two strips 9 1/2 by 3 1/2 of color B and sew onto the top and bottom of the strip you just made. You will end up with 9 inch blocks when they are all joined in the quilt top. Hope that helps!
Thanks for your help, I think I'm gonna give it a go!
great quilt - great colors!
