I started with my scrap bin of 2.5 inch strips and chose any fabrics in plum, teal, aqua, gray, and white. I've wanted to work with this color scheme for a while, so it's good to finally see them all together. It feels rich and wintry to me.
When you put the blocks together in this configuration, you get the effect of many trips around the world. If you keep it scrappy, the "trips" are a little wonky and broken up, which makes it all the more interesting to me. It is really fun to arrange and rearrange them on my design wall.
I have 16 blocks so far with strips for another four. Perhaps 25 would be a better size. It's a lot of fun, so I'm not in a rush to finish.

I love your colour choices and it does feel wintery...I'm sitting on my hands trying not to join in but it may not be worth the fight!
Love your colors and fabrics and the way this is coming together ... :) Pat
I love it, what a great color scheme. I am in the midst of old things that must be finished asap but am itching to start one of these. I may have cut some extra strips when I was making my bee blocks the other day....
Those colors are to die for. This will be gorgeous finished.
Your version is so pretty! I've gotten the bug too...aren't they fun!
yours are darling. wintry indeed! it's so much fun to see everyone's progress on this, I just started on a second one today!
I absolutely love your colour choices, they look great. I'm resisting but it's getting harder and harder to not jump in.
It's neat to see how this comes together with a limited color scheme. I really love those colors together. I've been throwing just about everything in mine. We'll see what comes of it.
I'm curious about how you're storing your strips. Do you have them separated by color or do you dig for what you need when you're ready?
oh I love your palette too!
I always reply via email to comments, but I can'r see your email address Melissa, so I'll reply here. I first chose strips for each block as I made it, but I found it more efficient to go ahead and separate the strips into groups of six for each block. I then placed these groups of six in a stack to make blocks as I had time. Hope that helps!
Your Trip is looking great.
